Environmental Recovery Corporation Expands to Baltimore
Acquires Refuse Container and Portable Toilet Companies
Lancaster, PA (October 17, 2013) Environmental Recovery Corporation, one of the largest residual waste-processing facilities in the mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Lancaster, PA, announces the recent acquisition of Gutter King and AAA Handy Johns, both of Rosedale, MD. The acquisition aligns with Environmental Recovery Corporation’s strategic goals to increase its service offering, to expand its client base within the Baltimore and Washington corridor, and to venture into new markets.
Environmental Recovery Corporation’s market share in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area will increase by more than 10 percent with this acquisition. Gutter King is a refuse container and disposal company with 20 trucks and 500 containers. AAA Handy Johns is a portable toilet company with 500 portables.
The acquisition expands Environmental Recovery Corporation’s offerings to include hooklift and roll-off refuse containers, and a portable toilet division. In addition, it positions the company as a new stakeholder in the residential market. Approximately 90 percent of Gutter King’s and AAA Handy Johns’s business was targeted to the residential market.
“We believe that this acquisition brings an expertise in residential services, the portable toilet business, and refuse containers that will greatly contribute toward expanding Environmental Recovery Corporation’s product offerings, and enhance our business growth,” said Ken Lefever, President of Environmental Recovery Corporation.
“This new growth will enhance our profitability, but more importantly, allows ERC to expand into the residential market, which was a direct objective of the company’s strategic plan to increase our market share while continuing to provide excellent and professional services to our clients,” said Lefever.
Environmental Recovery Corporation collects and properly processes and recycles non-hazardous waste materials and liquids, and is one of the leading providers of environmental, industrial, and residual waste services in the mid-Atlantic region. Environmental Recovery Corporation is dedicated to providing superior services to a wide variety of industrial clients. Marine and government industries in the Baltimore and Washington area are a substantial growth area for the company. Barge, tank and tugboat cleaning services, bilge-water disposal, and fieldwork are services that Environmental Recovery Corporation provides to this industry.
In an effort to venture into new markets and provide a greater service offering for their Baltimore and Washington area clients, Environmental Recovery Corporation has secured a facility in Baltimore, MD. The facility includes 1,500 square feet of office space for 10 new employees, a 2,500 square foot warehouse, and a 1.5-acre lot for equipment storage. Minor renovations are planned for the property. Environmental Recovery Corporation will continue to be headquartered in Lancaster, PA.
“The decision to secure a new location is essential to accommodate the needs of our growing client base in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, and it positions our company to provide an enhanced service offering for marine and government operations within this area,” said Lefever.
The acquisition agreement was finalized on August 29, 2013. It is the first acquisition for Environmental Recovery Corporation in 2013.
